The Types Of Tires

For each driver it is important to know the different types of tires that exist.

Summer, winter and all-season tires, this are the main types that a driver should know about. There are also tires designed for special use such as for heavy transport trucks and for agricultural machinery, but the only we care about are the one that are normally used, usually: summer, winter and all season tires.

The main difference between the three types of tires is in the material used to achieve. In fact, winter tires are made of a softer rubber with better tolerance to low temperatures. This tolerance refers to the ability to keep rubber hardness characteristics at low temperatures in winter. Another difference is printed on the tire model, a model which, with the tire material is meant to provide a better grip on wet, icy or snow-covered roads. The winter type of tires is also distinguished by greater depth of grooves on the ridge tire road surface.

On the other hand, summer tires are made of a harder rubber, it is necessary to withstand higher temperatures, generally not subject to runs on slippery surfaces.

All-season tires are a compromise between the two types of tires characterized above trying to combine the two types for maximum efficiency on both the rain, snow or summer heat.

This type of tires can be considered the standard for new cars, manufacturers opting for them just because they can be used with good performance in almost any conditions.

Obviously, there is no perfect all-season tire, and like anything made of compromise, all-season tire will not ever raise the quality or performance of dedicated tires for summer or winter.

I think everyone agrees that a worn tire is not good from any point of view. A part of tire in increasing waste make the braking distance longer, and if the degree of wear is very advanced, and I do not mean just the appearance of tire dull, but the actual aging of the material, than it can cause an explosion tire in running, which is already an extremely high risk.

Also, some poor quality tires – even if they are new can cause damage to other vehicle systems such as suspension and steering. Therefore, wheel balancing is required. On the other hand some unbalanced wheels cause a rapid and uneven tire wear.

Tire pressure in tires is also very important, in both, terms of traffic safety and in order to provide a bigger lifetime use.
